I'd do nothing but reading if I could (ok, maybe eat some great food, buy some fancy shoes between two books...oh, and spend some quality time with the gorgeous guy I married while I am on reading-break anyway...)
With Lilith I was reminded quite a bit of the female lead in "The Nonesuch" (Ancilla Trent).
Also the storyline of the younger relative (of the male lead) who wants to marry a girl of bad reputation reminded me of "Faro's daughter" though the constellation was not exactly the same.
The
(show spoiler)reminded me also of "The Nonesuch" - and "Faro's daughter" again :-)
It was a well written and nicely constructed historical romance, even if it was not so very original.
It didn't have much steam - but the cast of characters was interesting and made for entertaining reading.
Especially Miss Glenwood who was really a gem.
