I'd do nothing but reading if I could (ok, maybe eat some great food, buy some fancy shoes between two books...oh, and spend some quality time with the gorgeous guy I married while I am on reading-break anyway...)

SPOILER ALERT!

Just some thoughts...

Ball & Chain - Abigail Roux

Ty is not Ty anymore. He doesn't have this pure core, this strength and integrity that he used to have before. The most obvious if you compare the Ty from Fish & Chips with the new one.

It didn't come so surprisingly - after Touch & Geaux. But it wasn't a good move to taint the hero that much. Ty is not Ty anymore. He is a guy who obeys orders even if they come from a questionable source. Might make him a good soldier, but not a great character.

Zane was pale. Beautiful, but not interesting anymore.

Nick and Kelly: Nick is the new Ty - he is now the damaged, but honorable hero. Kelly is still a mystery to me. I somehow couldn't make the jump for him to be involved with a guy.

The secondary cast was totally forgettable. Why introduce Emma? She didn't have any kind of function for the plot.

The Grady family itself was not what they used to be. Earl was a stupid asshole, who should better think again about where his loyalty should lie. He asks Ty to revenge Dick Burns - no matter what the costs to Ty? A guy who used your son, nearly got him killed several times? I am through with that dysfunctional family as well. And too much of the "end justifies the means" philosophy. Because it doesn't.

Deuce and Livi are distraught parents in this book. Nothing more.

The crime part was weak and basically uninteresting. Didn't make much sense to me.

I am afraid I have grown out of this series.

I will read the next installment, but my expectations will be low.
