I'd do nothing but reading if I could (ok, maybe eat some great food, buy some fancy shoes between two books...oh, and spend some quality time with the gorgeous guy I married while I am on reading-break anyway...)
I liked both characters, though Giles was a little more fleshed out with his backstory of grieve and an unhappy relationship in the past.
John seems a little cardboard- a little too good to be true. And I didn't think that it was necessary to make him a playwright, it seems like a "hey, of course a lamplighter is not good enough, but look he is an intellectual in disguise!".
Why is a man with a manual job not good enough?
The love story was a bit rushed.
