A lot of very English countryside ambience, quirky and eccentric characters, banter and a lot of intersting dialogues. What I missed was emotional depth - it was too subtle here for me. Could have been a friendship of two people as well, would have worked, too. What I didn't like about this book: the constant drinking. Alcohol was part of pretty much every scene, including drunk driving, drunk horse-riding, drunk hunting and so on. I don't think that this is cute or funny. I think it is selfish and stupid and endangers other people in real life.
