I'd do nothing but reading if I could (ok, maybe eat some great food, buy some fancy shoes between two books...oh, and spend some quality time with the gorgeous guy I married while I am on reading-break anyway...)

Nothing wrong with it...but still!

Nor Iron Bars a Cage - Kaje Harper

It just couldn't hold my interest. I skimmed a lot, especially after the first 40%.

Don't know why, because it had careful world-building (one inappropriate "Okay" I will forgive), good writing style and a hurt/damaged main character.

The trauma he carried around with him was present through the whole book. It was over-shadowing everything.

And so the story remained pale and mostly uninteresting.

The "love interest", a childhood crush/friend, was a little too good to be true in every aspect. So he was quite uninteresting too.

It had technically "slow burn", though it rather felt like "no burn".

I mostly felt, that it was too drawn out. The story had unnecessary length or not enough story for all the words, however you put it.
