I'd do nothing but reading if I could (ok, maybe eat some great food, buy some fancy shoes between two books...oh, and spend some quality time with the gorgeous guy I married while I am on reading-break anyway...)
This was a great and enchanting read.
I enjoyed it very much. It had a very well thought out plot, two interesting and lovable main characters and some seriously good writing.
It had some depths, as it dealt with two very young men who returned from WWI. It showed some of the "shell shock", but also how life needs to go on. It gave a reflection of how this generation worked. Yes, they suffered unimaginably (to me at least), but they also had this kind of matter-of-factly attitude, that is so very courageous without even being aware of it. Not so self-centered. Just going on, doing the right thing, doing something with your life, no self-pity whatsoever.
And therefore immensely touching.
