I'd do nothing but reading if I could (ok, maybe eat some great food, buy some fancy shoes between two books...oh, and spend some quality time with the gorgeous guy I married while I am on reading-break anyway...)
Our bad-ass heroine shows again that there is no believable reason why she is the queen of criminals in all Ashland.
A dangerous metal element comes into her territory. He shows that he can take away her metal knives and even use them against her.
Three guesses what she does when she goes to confront him:
1. Take the knives anyway, because she is planning "to kill him before he got a chance to use his magic on her weapons."
2. Get some ceramic or even wood or stone weapons.
3. Take him out via sniper shot
Oh, so smart. And because it's not enough for Gin to be incompetent, Owen gets to fuck up things too - bringing his metal hammer with him to sneak up to the metal elemental villain...guess what happens...
This seems to be an ongoing problem with the series. Gin is simly TSTL. It seems so sloppily done by the author. Making Gin such an inflexible assassin, that she cannot change her modus operandi if the situation calls for it.
In the end of course she is stronger and better and finally leaves the metal at home, god bless her little heart...so that she prevails once more...
Also: This book was so boring.
Nothing new in Gin's oh so interesting life as queen of the mob. She does exactly the same - kills the bad guys, protects her friends, cooks food.
