Interesting and well written.
I read some reviews on Amazon/GR who claimed this was a rip-off of Star Trek.
As a trekkie I was fine with that.
But it turned out that those reviewers are obviously not that familiar with Star Trek.
Yes, this is about space travel, with one big empire and military.
BUT.
The protagonist is not a military man or a regular star ship captain. He is intelligence. So this is something that is not common in a Star Trek universe.
Also he is troubled. And
(show spoiler)that is SO NOT STAR TREK.
This was an interesting story, it was fast-paced and well-written.
I liked it, but somehow I didn't really get invested.
