I'd do nothing but reading if I could (ok, maybe eat some great food, buy some fancy shoes between two books...oh, and spend some quality time with the gorgeous guy I married while I am on reading-break anyway...)
I deducted two full stars for the cavalier handling of rape and dub-con.
Yes, I know, this is a fantasy book. Still. This rubs me totally the wrong way.
Young straight guys get blasted by mind-altering pheromones and have sex with other guys consequently. Afterwards they are damaged by this experience.
This is not funny, it is not sexy and it does in no way serve the plot. And then saying that the rapists prefer girls anyway - well, there are girls around en masse. Why rape a guy and mess with his head if you prefer girls? I don't condone rape in any way, shape or form, and this is another case of using it as a titillating plot device.
I was very disappointed. Especially because not only a bad guy showed this behaviour, but Charles, who is supposed the super-sweet, puppy-awkward, witty sidekick to our heroine, participated.
The rest of the book was good.
