I'd do nothing but reading if I could (ok, maybe eat some great food, buy some fancy shoes between two books...oh, and spend some quality time with the gorgeous guy I married while I am on reading-break anyway...)
I recently came to the conclusion that I read too much.
The moment I realized that there is even the possibility of "too much" with regards to reading: choosing to continue a mediocre urban fantasy book instead of spending quality time with my most favourite person on the planet.
And the ugly realization that I am boring company for him.
He never complains or says that he would prefer me to be more here instead of head in the clouds far away. But it must be so boring for him. We don't even discuss or speak about books I read.
And I took a good, hard look at my reading habit. And decided to change a few things.
No more reading when my husbands wants to do something on the weekends. I have five weeknights for reading. And all the times when he is in the gym or doing something equally strenous. No more not answering the phone when my sisters or friends call while I am reading. (It's still ok for some people to let the answering machine take the heat...).
So I will try to prioritize a little differently in the future.
And to show that life can be beautiful even without a book in front of my face:
This is a small lake close to the highest mountain in Germany where we were going for a long walk (you can walk all around the lake and it has the most incredibly colour - emerald green, for real!).
